A couple of weeks ago I was invited by the non-profit Vibe Israel to visit the country and meet with some of the top parenting activists in the area. I will be releasing multiple articles which focus on some of the most interesting people and encounters that I had on this adventure.
Interview with Liat Vardi-Bar
When you’re pregnant, there’s always a chance of things not going as planned. Usually a quick labor would still involve being close to your support, or at least having 911 on call. 30,000 feet in an air, over the Pacific Ocean you have none of that support. Luckily, for a mom-to-be on a recent flight from Taiwan to Los Angeles a pediatrician was returning from her honeymoon on the same flight.
Dr. Angelica Zen was coming back from Bali when … Keep Reading!!!
The only thing worse than a cheap hotel room is a cancelled one. You might have saved up for months, carefully accumulated leave from work, and figured out the quickest travel routes. Suddenly a family member gets engaged, telling you at the last minute. You absolutely can’t leave, and your plans unravel before your eyes.
You’d like to postpone it, but when you phone the hotel to cancel your room, they remind you that it’s non-refundable. All that money you … Keep Reading!!!
On the first as well as the final leg of my trip to Israel I stayed in The Diaghilev hotel. It’s called a “Live Art Boutique Hotel” and I’d say that is a very accurate description.
My first room, which I stayed in the longest, was definitely the best of the two.
In both suites:
When travelling you should always prepare by learning some of the language. Now you can insult people just like a local.
Residents of Addis Ababa take the parasitic route
Romans like to take the anatomical approach
There seems to be a fascination with death in Bangkok
Indians have too much pride in themselves to swear
Take out your notepad and jot down some ideas from this video
Happy insulting!… Keep Reading!!!
A woman switching planes at Dulles airport, in Washington D.C., was directed to a pet-relief area to pump, by a United Airlines employee.
Liz Meagher Cooper just wanted to pump milk for her 4-month-old-baby. She disembarked her plane and immediately asked, at the counter, where she could pump. She was first directed to the bathroom. When she declined for sanitary reasons, the employee re-directed her to the pet-relief area. Apparently, this employee did not understand the sanitation problems with … Keep Reading!!!
Big thanks to Atlantic Luggage for sponsoring this post and giving away a vacation in the process. You are good people. Obviously, the content and opinions expressed below are that of I Am Not the Babysitter. And on that note, I will say that I am glad we partnered up with them because their s- really is sturdy. I say this as a season traveler with a tendency to drop… everything.
Don’t forget to check out the Atlantic … Keep Reading!!!
Now we can adequately give an Ethiopian Airlines review…
Our Ethiopian Airlines Cloud Nine Review
How it started:
Ethiopian Airlines found out about the nonprofit work we were doing in Ethiopia, and not only discounted our tickets, but upgraded us for free. (Ethiopian Airlines is a very patriotic business; they are still an … Keep Reading!!!
Packing shoes is the worst.
No… it’s even worse than the worst. It’s godawful.
On many a trip, I have gone over my allotted 50 lbs of luggage just on shoes alone. It wasn’t until I had a breaking point somewhere on a cobbled street in Nazareth, Israel. This when I realized that this oversized load I was dragging through these historic corridors was not only unnecessary, it was making my entire experience less enjoyable. And it was on my … Keep Reading!!!
We spent most of the month of May in Hawaii with friends. On one of our last days, the majority of our group went to Soul Signature where I received my hand tapped tattoo.
I decided to join in when I met Aisea, the owner of the shop who also specializes in hand tapping.
Brian ended up getting a large machine-created tattoo by Eugene:
Four hours into a seven hour flight, over the Atlantic Ocean, is not a good place to be when your two-year-old has an asthma attack. It becomes even worse when you find her medication has been put in your checked baggage in the cargo hold.
This happened recently on a flight from Spain to the U.S. Luckily, for the girl, Dr. Krushid Guru was on board and jumped into action. He recognized that the toddler needed a nebulizer, but … Keep Reading!!!
An amazing medical breakthrough has happened in Australia this week. A toddler’s head has been re-attached to his neck following a car accident and it’s nothing short of miraculous work by the doctor.
Two weeks ago 16-month-old Jackson Taylor was traveling in the car with his mom, Rylea, and his sister. They were hit head on by another driver. Everyone escaped with relatively minor injuries, except Jackson. Rylea tearfully recalls the aftermath
