Number Sixteen- Pre-30 Bucket List

IMG_0133

November 17 I completely overbooked myself. My cousin came in from San Francisco and her plane was delayed. Then off we went immediately to the boys' MMA class. When we got there they had the parents participate- Both boys didn't want to fight me! Samuel said he doesn't fight girls and Aram just wanted to be mister independent. He kept saying, "mom, just go..." Samuel found a dad to partner with, and I reluctantly left Aram. John McCarthy came over and I was joking about how Aram didn't … [Read more...]

Oh, Dear Lord…

Brian and I were watching the UFC fight the other night (all 15 seconds of it)- Samuel came over and said, "I want to do that. I am good at that." Brian and I kind of laughed and then Brian said, "You know what? He actually might be really good at it." Samuel's body is kind of an anomaly.  When we first came home we knew he was really strong, but he was also severely overweight from hoarding food at the orphanage. When he grew and thinned out we started realizing he was built with … [Read more...]

Riding Their .5 Seconds of Fame

Right to Left: Back of Aram's Head, Back of Samuel, and very right we have have someone's enormous wedgie

So, the boys are on a PBS SoCal promo. It plays every morning. Don't get too excited for us. I'm not even sure how we spotted them. Their "scene" runs for about .5 seconds. But, of course, we have to pause it whenever the boys know it is coming up (it is the only way they can see themselves)... We're starting to notice other people in the clip, now. Our friend Jenny noticed the massive wedgie the poor woman on the very right had. We think it steals a little bit of the boys' … [Read more...]

Just Another Day For My Kids

Aram and Mary

The boys went to the Playboy Mansion. We were visiting to check out the property for a charity event. They were treated like royalty. Samuel specifically requested fresh squeezed orange juice, and received it. It was a perfect playground for the kids, if it weren't for a few large birds trying to poke their eyes out. Also, My boys were given so many sweets, when came home and crashed on the couch when their sugar high plummeted. Anyway, the point of this post is regardless of your … [Read more...]

Homeschooling Adventure

IMG_7254

Autumn is here and I couldn't wait to take the boys out to go on a "nature walk." Okay,....the park was as close as we were going to get today. Nonetheless, off we went with our very scientific bags (gallon freezer bags, mind you. I don't skimp when it comes to the education of my children ;-) ) I had the boys collect different textures in nature. They found flowers, pine cones, and varying leaves. We went home and examined them. The boys' favorite part was when … [Read more...]

Number Two on our Pre-Thirty Bucket List: Visit Club 33

IMG_7251

NUMBER 2 on my Pre-30 Bucket List: VISIT CLUB 33   What is Club 33, you ask? It is a private club hidden in Disneyland that is almost impossible to visit. You need to either be a member, or have a member make reservations for you. There are large corporations that are members, and under 600 individual memberships. Needless to say, I am not the only one who has this one their bucket list. I seriously almost had a panic attack when my friend made reservations for me (like it was … [Read more...]

Disney Halloween Party!

IMG_6896

We were intvited to Disney Interactive's Halloween Bash! I almost peed my pants when I found out it was going to be held at Disney's backlot! It was a costume party, so we all got into the sprirt of the event. We received a private "trick or treat" tour of the stuidos!   Then came time for the costume contest winners to be announced! Guess who won the grand prize!? We DID! The boys went … [Read more...]

The Possibility Shop

"Camping" theme. The boys made flashlight torches.

I'm not going to lie, there are some really cool perks to living in Los Angeles. DisneyFamily.com invited us to a creativity event, with The Possibility Shop star, Courtney Watkins! If you haven't seen her show you should definitely check it out. What made it even better was it was hosted at the Jim Henson Studio! It was pretty cool. They even have Charlie Chaplin's original studio! Big thanks to Adrienne, from "Adrienne's House" for letting me fill in my post … [Read more...]

Mousing Around

My mom was down visiting and we decided to go visit...where else? Disneyland. My mom bought the boys bubble guns. Aram wouldn't put his down the entire day. Samuel preferred to be in the center of the bubbles, rather than be the bubble-maker. … [Read more...]

Secrets of the Mouse- Disneyland Tips

I have a few friends recently who have told me that they don't want to brave Disneyland with their kids because it is a disaster waiting to happen. I don't blame them. After being there twice this week I saw bigger meltdowns than Fukushima and Chernobyl, combined. I doesn't have to be that way! I'm spilling some of my secrets. Disneyland Tips and Tricks: Pick your day wisely! If you can go on a weekday and avoid summer months (too hot anyway) that is the perfect time to go. A … [Read more...]
