A Californian’s Guide To Two Days In New York

IMG_2228

Travel Entertainment: If your plane taxis for two hours before take-off, take photos of yourself in your seat at different angles to pass the time. Jet Lag: Drink white sangria - a pitcher. It helps. Attire: Avoid at all costs wearing anything remotely resembling this: And regardless of how you sleep at home, it is a good idea to remember to bring pajamas for travel situations where you'll be rooming with someone other than your spouse. If not, expect the discussion … [Read more...]

why sometimes it is good to get lost

IMG_1994

It’s no secret- I have no sense of direction. GPS was invented for people like me, and ironically I still have yet to own a vehicle with built-in GPS, or the device itself. Anyway, a few days ago I managed to get lost with the with the kids again. We were driving around aimlessly down an alley-like side street when the clouds parted and this lovely sight appeared:                   That is right, we literally … [Read more...]

The Getty

IMG_1902

I have been reluctant to bring the boys to The Getty because I did not feel they were quite old enough for the experience. However, my views have changed. My friend Alexandra and decided to brave The Getty with our preschool-aged children. Admittedly, we did not make it into the building. However, we bought snacks and spent hours in the gardens. What a beautiful and inspiring place for children. It is like Alice in Wonderland. The Getty charges $15 for parking, but it is well worth it. … [Read more...]

Natural History Museum- Butterfly Pavilion

IMG_1860

On Sunday we went to the Los Angeles Natural History Museum to see their Butterfly Exhibit! The Butterfly Pavilion was created for observation, education, and research. As each butterfly dies, the researchers will mark and record the data to determine the natural lifespan of each species. I have to say, I am not sure how reliable the data from this project will be. There were at least a few casualties during the thirty minutes we spent in the exhibit. Nothing intentional- there are … [Read more...]

Palm Springs Air Museum

IMG_1709

Disneyland now has competition. We took the boys to the Palm Springs Air Museum. It has one of the world's largest collections of flyable WWII aircrafts. Never in a million years would I have believed Aram and Samuel could spend a whole day here and be entertained. Well, to my surprised that is exactly what happened. The boys were enthralled by all of the fighter planes and the stories that went with each aircraft. Any history buff or child with a love of airplanes will be in awe of this … [Read more...]

Samuel’s Birthday!

IMG_0363

December 17th Samuel turned FIVE! I can't believe it! We had a party at my parents' house! My grandma came because she never misses a hot party. My niece came because Samuel LOVES her (She's 5'11" and looks like a supermodel, I can't really blame him) and all of his boy cousins showed up. Even my cousin Whitney and her husband Bryan showed up with their adorable daughter Declyn! Whitney knitted him an adorable hat for his birthday in his favorite colors (gold and pink, he's not … [Read more...]

Picking Out Our Christmas Tree.

IMG_7367

This is my favorite time of year! I LOVE the smell of pine in our house. Time to pick out a tree! This is the first year where Samuel really understands what is happening. He was only home for a few weeks we got our tree last year. We went to Mr. Greentrees in West Hollywood. It is probably the most famous Christmas tree farm in the West L.A./Beverly Hills area. The staff is really friendly, the trees are set up beautifully, and they flock in different colors! Flocking uses toxic … [Read more...]
