It has come to my attention that many people are deterred by working with groups of people on specific humanitarian projects because they think the mood is too somber. It makes sense, because when people come back and present what they’ve done in various areas of the world they are actually wanting to show the hard work they’ve done, and they are … Keep Reading!!!
You know what I hate? When you have to see something someone else is going through before you put things into perspective and appreciate what you have.
Yesterday I took the kids to Disneyland for a few hours of fun. I was sidetracked by other work I was attending to during the day (I received 15 calls in 10 minutes at one point) and was not being present with the boys.
To make matters worse it was raining pretty … Keep Reading!!!
Attachment Parenting…So many people do this, some label it and some do not. Just like in my previous post that I wrote with the influence from Jamie, Attachment Parenting starts between a husband and a wife but the most impact you can have … Keep Reading!!!
When my first child was born, I joined a local moms’ support group. One of the big things everyone kept going on and on about was Moms’ Night Out and its importance for keeping mom sane, having fun, enjoying your time, saving the planet, and promoting world peace.
I was talking to my friend the other day about how she was led to her career as a social worker because of her heart for children. It evolved into a conversation about what life experiences helped to shape our passions in life. Unlike my friend, my passion is not as much for children as it is for mothers – which ultimately benefits children. With my own children, or children living at the center without parents, I have a close … Keep Reading!!!
It’s the end of a long, rainy morning; we have waited in lines and in traffic. We enter the house, damp and cold, jackets hit the floor and shoes fly. Small feet are running wild. The block tower in the middle of the carpet gets leveled with one precise kick and baby is startled. Cries, screams, whining – Three little creatures need me – now! It’s time to squelch the chaos.
How to reconnect with three little ones, at once, … Keep Reading!!!
It looks like we are able to cross a task off our bucket list in an unexpected way again.
Number 8– Have Professional Family Photos Taken.
Pathways to Family Wellness is going to be a special magazine for our family for a number of reasons. The relationships we built with everyone working on that issue (the staff at Pathways, and also the people brought in specifically for that issue, like Lori Dorman) have been real and meaningful.
Sister Donna lives in a rural area a couple hours outside of Awassa, Ethiopia. We had the honor of meeting her at her home during our trip, and brought her back up to Awassa for a couple of days. I cannot express in words what a beautiful woman she is.
We were able to speak to the sister at length about her experiences living in a very rural area of Ethiopia … Keep Reading!!!

When we said our vows 11 years ago, I never would have guessed we would be celebrating our anniversary at a Pride Parade. But here we were, all five of us, figuring out what our signs were going to say. What was our most important message to the world on this day?
Mine said, “We heart our Gender-Variant Son!”
I was pretty impressed when my hubby decided on “My Son is Perfect.” He hasn’t always known what to do about

From experience, I think practicing attachment parenting (AP) principles has had a positive impact on my children and my family as a whole. I believe in it so much that I’ve become an AP Advocate to help spread the word about how awesome this form of parenting is.

What a weird couple of weeks!
We got home from an amazing trip to Ethiopia and I was welcomed back with some serious health issues.
The Pathways fall issue happened to be released with us on the cover right when I returned. We took the photo a couple of weeks after the TIME cover was released as a response to that cover, with an article that shared our story of what had happened. However, the … Keep Reading!!!
