At Disneyland a couple of weeks ago I met a new friend and her daughter became fast friends with Samuel. We were waiting in line for a ride when Samuel announced an observation about his new friend, “Mom, she’s brown like me!” That led to her telling me about “People Colors Crayons” from Lakeshore Learning. The boys LOVE the crayons. When doing self portraits Aram will only use brown. Samuel likes that he can put his arm up to all the colors and find the perfect match.

OMG…these are so cute. These are perfect for my kids, as my oldest had made a comment last year. She said “their isn’t a perfect brown to match her little sister’s complexion.” These are a must this Christmas.
I have never heard of people colored crayons! That is so awesome. Our oldest is starting to notice all the different colors of people. The funny thing is that he thinks all black people are Zimbabwean!
I love the story of how you found out about these
i love these! thanks for the great giveaway!
Love these and have never heard about them before! (Great story, too.)
I recently started following your blog…love it! And I teach first grade and have two girls under the age of two! Fun life and would love to win your giveaway!!
Just wanted to add that clever cleavage makes me smile!!
These crayons are perfect to use in the classroom where there is such a diversified group of children. They often look at the color of their skin when drawing themselves and these colors would increase their motivation in the arts.
That was not a real website.
Never saw ‘em before, but I love these crayons. I love any kits that leave room for everyone like “the make an angel kits” where you can pick from a range of body colors of your angels. Some parents think this draws too much attention. I think it normalizes us all. Thanx
These are awesome! I have some markers like this from crayola… well we had. Izzy would love these!
… and I like you on facebook:)
I love that you are doing this as a giveaway. I’m a lurker here. Thanks for the great read.
These look great & are such a good idea for families of all colors like mine (and yours)
My oldest mixed daughter used to draw in her dad & her brothers as dark, while she made herself & me light. It is so interesting what kids think about color…
we could use these in our house!
Sweet! River has been missing his friend Cody from preschool. Cody’s family adopted him from Kenya and River never noticed until the end of the year that Cody’s skin was a different color than his. Now whenever he sees somebody with brown skin it makes him talk about Cody. This would be cool for him to draw pictures of him and Cody;)
Liked you on FB a while back! I’m no band-wagoner! ;p
Very cool crayons! Wish I had these when I was growing up!
Yes – love the crayons!! I’m checking out the website to see what else they have as well!
I just found your blog & I think I love you!! You are hilarious! Love the “hair” issue….trust me…girl hair is nooo easy task! Love the crayons & my daughter would love them too!! She is true artist already at age 5.
I freaking love these! They’re going to be our new gift for our little friends and family!!! Thanks for sharing and having an awesome giveaway!!
P.S. I follow you on FB!!
Cutesy crayons ever!
We are a blended family, with my son being half African-American and my husband, daughter, and myself all being Irish and English. He is three and has just noticed that his skin is brown while we read a book about Rosa Parks. I will definitely be buying these. God bless yours and every multi-racial family!!
