Samuel has been a part of our family for one year!
It is amazing how fast it went by.
I’ve seen adoption before and after photos, but I never thought ours were going to be extreme.
Until I compared the first pictures to the most recent.
I still can’t believe that he went from this:
to this:
in 365 days.
In one year Samuel-
- Is almost is fluent in English
- has been to Disneyland 20 times
- Grew 7 shoe sizes
- Grew eight inches taller
- Is in the 85th percentile for weight
- Is in the 75th percentile for height
- Learned how to write and spell his name (in english)
- Learned his ABCs in english and can identify them
- Can do basic adding and subtracting
- Has become a breastfeeding advocate
Happy One Year Home Samuel! And Many More With Us And Ama to come!

OH MY GOSH! He grew a ton. Both of your boys are so beautiful and they look so happy. I love finding Ethiopian adoptive families. It is so cool to see how many people have fallen in love with my second home!
I can’t wait to dig through and learn more about your family and adoption process. AND I am totally jealous you went to club 33!

WOW! He grew so much. He’s so handsome! I’m looking forward to seeing him grow some more.
7 shoe sizes?! eek! guess you got a precursor to what life is going to be like when both boys are pre-teens.
Wow, it really IS amazing! He is clearly thriving, and I agree with the person above who commented on how happy both boys look. They truly look like brothers to me. You are obviously great parents.
I can’t believe it has been a year! I feel like he has been with your/our family forever, yet it has flown by. He has grown so much!
I remember reading on WACAP when you brought him home. I can’t believe it has been a year (I also can’t believe that at that time, we were waiting for our call). He looks so tiny in that first picture – it is hard to believe how much he has blossomed! Good job, Mama.
Your sons are so cute together. The photo on the playground, with those great big smiles, is wonderful. And the one of them walking away holding hands? Priceless.
What a smart boy to learn all of that so quickly! Congratulations on your beautiful family and Happy SITS Day!
What a beautiful story – and what a lucky boy – so glad that SITS shared you with us today!
Sooo cute, and shocked too at how much he grew in one year. Your boys look like they are best friends, sooo sweet!

You have an absolutely beautiful family!
And I admit to bias when I love that his trips to Disneyland made your list of accomplishments
You have a beautiful family. Samuel’s grown so much! His smile is infectious.
WOW! I’m crying in the VW service center while waiting for an oil change. That video amazed me, humbled me and makes me want to be a better person. You are an amazing woman- your husband an incredible man. Your family is beautiful- you can see the love and happiness between you all. Love the pics of the boys….precious how bonded they are as brothers. Adding you to my reader right now!
It’s his smile that I saw grow the most! What an incredible blessing he is to your family … and you are to him!
Enjoy your SITS day!
Feel sorry for you with your clothes and shoes bills over that year! Holy cow he grew a ton!
